ENTRE COR I BRANCA is a project that connects, through roots singing, the deep relationship between a community’s own language and the musical expression that emerges from it.
The repertoire of songs, Cants del pou, that are presented is a collection of different eras and traditions rooted in the Catalan countries and also Occitania or Alghero. So we will be able to hear from the Occitan song, Lo Boier, to a Cant de batre from the Valencian Country or Na Cecília from Menorca. However, the majority, however, are versions specific to the Principality of Catalonia, such as Amelia’s Testament, The Lady of Aragon, Els segadors, L’emigrant, Lo comte Arnau, etc.
Toni Casassas interprets the repertoire a cappella, or accompanied by a subtle bordón with the guitar, in an austere, raw and stripped-down way, using sound resources such as arabesque melismas or Sardinian and Mongolian harmonics.
