Puerto Rican-American tenor Ian Castro earned his Master of Music from The Juilliard School in 2021. He has been awarded the 2021 Kinesis Fellowship from the New York Opera Foundation to continue his training at the ‘Dutch National Opera.

Enriching his acting skills in the New York area, Castro starred as Ferrando in Light Opera of New Jersey’s production of Cosí fan tutte and as the Male Chorus in Montclair State University’s production of Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia. He has also had the opportunity to perfect his skills with Mise-en-Scène Cicle of studio concerts with selected scenes from Verdi’s Rigoletto, Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor and Massenet’s Werther.

Castro previously appeared as Nermorino in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore and John Adams in Virgil Thomson’s The Mother of Us All in collaboration with the New York Philharmonic and MetLiveArts during his studies at Juilliard.

Marcela Rahal, mezzo-soprano. He studied his master’s degree in opera singing at the “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” University of Music and Theater in Leipzig, in the class of KS Prof. Roland Schubert. She graduated from her singing degree at the University of São Paulo (USP) in the class of Francisco Campos (Brazil).

He was also a member of 2 Opera Studios: (2013-2015) EMESP Opera Studio and the Opera Academy of the “Teatro São Pedro” (2015-2017), both in São Paulo.

Awards include First Prize in the 2024 Viñas Tenor Competition, and grand finalist in the Neue Stimme 2022 competition.
